South African government intensifying efforts to protect children online
With children spending more time online, the South African government is taking steps to protect children online. These include efforts to educate society to effectively safeguard children from online harm and build safe spaces for them.
In this context the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) in South Africa in partnership with Digify Africa, held a webinar to discuss how to build a safer internet space for children. The discussion ranged from intensifying efforts to educate society and children, encourage children and parents to report abuse faced online, explore how community standards with respect to protecting children can be improved.
