Third Prague 5G security conference concludes
The third Prague 5G Security Conference, which was organized by the Czech Republic’s National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NUKIB) was held in November 2021. The conference was held primarily online and partly in person at the O2 Universum in Prague. The conference focused on issues related to the 5G network security and so-called emerging and disruptive technologies (EDTs). Czech’s Foreign Minister Jakub Kulhánek said the conference contributed to promoting common values and supported the development of a “safer, freer and more resilient digital society”. Trustworthiness and resilience of 5G technologies and EDTs was a subject discussed throughout the two-day conference, in which speakers from the European Commission, NATO, national governments, think tanks, and network operators participated.
At the end of the conference, the Prague Proposals on Cyber Security of EDTs were presented. The participating countries agreed on possible principles for an approach to disruptive technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), quantum communication infrastructure, big data advanced analytics, autonomous systems, and internet of things. The document touches upon an approach based on consideration of technical and non-technical risks, supply chain security, transparency, trustworthiness, and diversification, as well as democratic and ethical values in the context of 5G infrastrucure.
