Japan to earmark JPY50 billion for 6G R&D
The Japanese government is reported to have earmarked JPY50 billion (about US$482 million) for research and development (R&D) on 6G wireless technology, promoting public and private cooperation in this effort. The government plans to establish a fund of JPY30 billion that can be used over the coming years to support R&D in the field of 6G. The government will also spend JPY20 billion to build a facility where companies and academia can test their technologies. Japan aims to develop 6G core technologies by 2025 and to commercially launch it in 2030.
