GSMA Mobil 360 Africa
Throughout the past decade, Africa has been among the world’s prospective leaders, demonstrating strong potential and confidence to take on a prominent role in global affairs. Mobile 360 – Africa will be held 7 – 9 October, 2015 at the African Pride Crystal Towers Hotel & Spa in Cape Town, South Africa to address key issues and explore the future of the Sub-Saharan African region.
Telecommunications is one of the key industries that will continue to accelerate economic growth in the Sub-Saharan African region. Over the past five years, Sub-Saharan Africa has been the fastest growing region in terms of subscribers and connections. Consumers, governments and businesses continue to rapidly adopt mobile as a tool for basic communication as well as access to information, new applications and services. Key socio-economic impacts from the use of mobile-based services include improved access to health, finance and education and improved quality in the delivery of public services.
Yet despite some exciting growth, there are still strides to be made. Even with increasing adoption and affordability, there remains a significant proportion of the population in Sub-Saharan Africa who do not have access to the internet. This lack of access has the potential to hinder opportunities for development and prevent the region from truly engaging in the information age. Furthermore, the industry needs to adopt an approach that encourages digital entrepreneurship, drives the creation of innovative services and supports further investment. Moving forward, this will be a crucial challenge for both government and industry alike.
Join GSMA for the Mobile 360 Series – Africa where these key issues will be addressed, and explore the future of the Sub-Saharan African region. This tailored event combines a thought-leadership conference with co-located programmes that will focus in more depth on many of these key topics.
The GSMA Mobile 360 Series are one- to two-day conferences held around the globe, with a specific focus on regional issues or current industry topics. Senior executives in mobile and adjacent industries, as well as members in regulatory and government agencies have the opportunity to learn and discuss industry developments and network with peers specifically related to their region of the world. Conferences will be held in Africa, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and North America.
