The World Food Programme (WFP) was established in 1961 and is the world’s largest humanitarian organization in the domain of food security. The WFP is headquartered in Rome and has some 80 offices worldwide. Within the scope of sustainable development, the WFP offers development assistance as well as capacity building expertise in the context of emergency preparedness and response. In 20202, the WFP was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for its work on food assistance in conflict-affected areas and on the prevention of the use of food as a weapon of war and conflict.
