CSTD 26th session
The Commission on Science and Technology for Development’s (CSTD) twenty-sixth session will take place on 27 – 31 March 2023 in Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD) is a subsidiary body of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the UN focal point for science, technology and innovation (STI) for development, in analysing how STI, including information and communications technologies (ICTs), serve as enablers of the 2030 Agenda.
CSTD serves as a venue for strategic planning, exchanging lessons learned and best practices, offering insight on crucial STI trends in important economic, environmental, and social areas, and bringing attention to emerging and disruptive technologies.
The main themes of discussion of this year’s edition will be:
- Technology and innovation for cleaner and more productive and competitive production;
- Ensuring safe water and sanitation for all: a solution by science, technology and innovation.
The Commission will also review the progress made in the implementation of and follow-up to the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society at the regional and international levels; and hear presentations on ongoing science, technology and innovation policy reviews.
The CSTD gather stakeholders and representatives from Governments, international organizations, civil society and the private sector.
