G7 Digital and Tech Ministers’ Meeting 2023
The G7 Digital and Tech Ministers’ Meeting, to be held in Gunma, Japan, on April 29-30, will be hosted by three ministers: the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Minister for Digital Transformation.
The meeting will discuss various issues related to digitalization, including the emergence of issues that need to be addressed and the dramatic change in the global environment surrounding digital affairs, such as Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
The ministers will discuss a framework for operationalizing the ‘Data Free Flow with Trust (DFFT),’ in cooperation with the G7 and other countries while respecting national regulations, enhancing transparency, ensuring interoperability, and promoting public-private partnerships. The operationalization of DFFT is expected to help SMEs and others to safely and securely use data from around the world, enabling them to develop cross-border businesses.
