[Update] The Geneva Internet Platform’s Tereza Horejsova will be present at the event and will moderate the introductory session on the state of Internet inclusion (5 October, 13:30 local time).

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the World Bank and the Internet Society will organise an event on ‘Internet Inclusion: Global Connect Stakeholders Advancing Solutions’, on 5-6 October 2016, in Washington, D.C., USA.  

The event will discuss network technical, regulation, and build-out acceleration options for connecting the next billion, with a focus on exploration of associated challenges and real-world solutions. The two-day programme will include interactive workshops and panels, lightning talks on the status of broadband plans and Internet/digital inclusion plans, and regional roundtables. Discussions will revolve around innovative technical options and solutions for addressing the infrastructure challenges of providing Internet access to under-developed and under-served communities and regions, with a focus on accelerating roll out.
