UN Group of Governmental Experts on Developments in the Field of Information and Telecommunications in the Context of International Security: Fourth Session
The fourth and final session of the fifth United Nations Group of Governmental Experts on Developments in the Field of Information and Telecommunications in the Context of International Security (UN GGE) will be held on 19-23 June 2017, in New York. The meeting will decide if the GGE will have concensus on another Report.
The Group was established following Resolution 70/237 (December 2015) of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), with the aim to continue the work of the previous four groups. It is therefore expected to continue to study, with a view to promoting common understandings, existing and potential threats in the sphere of information security and possible cooperative measures to address them, and how international law applies to the use of information and communications technologies by states, as well as norms, rules and principles of responsible behaviour of states, confidence-building measures and capacity-building.
The Group is asked to report on its results at the 72nd session of the UNGA, in September 2017.
