The 53rd session of Human Rights Council
The 53rd regular session of Human Rights Council will continue its quintessential work of promoting the protection of all human rights, civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights, including the right to development.
Apart from the universal periodic review, the follow-up on human-rights-related declarations, and organisational matters, the session will also adopt and elaborate on multiple annual reports of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Office of the High Commissioner and the Secretary-General that touch on digital topics.
Notably, the reports under agenda item 3 will shed light on how digital technologies have overarching impacts in sustainable developments and freedom of expression (A/HRC/53/25), human-rights-based guiding business principles (A/HRC/53/42), the prevention and risks of perpetrating genocide (A/HRC/53/45), and the right to health (A/HRC/53/65).
