Africa Open Data Conference
The 2017 Africa Open Data Conference will be held on 17–21 July, in Accra, Ghana.
Held under the theme ‘Open data for sustainable development in Africa’, the conference will feature discussions and exchanges of experiences on how open data can be used in areas such as health, energy, education, agriculture, nutrition, economic growth, and the overall achievement of the sustainable development goals (SDGs). Sessions included in the event programme will focus on issues such as building an African open data gender agenda, the data revolution in Africa, data journalism, open climate and weather data, open data initiatives and portals, data collection for civil society organisations, and benefits, opportunities, and challenges of open data.
The event is expected to be attended by over 800 particiants from Africa and other regions in the world. Representatives of the private sector will showcase their experiences in supplying, using, and demanding open data, while innovators will have the opportunity to connect with sources of support, investors, and donors.
