G7 Summit 2022
On January 1, Germany took over the G7 Presidency. The 2022 G7 Summit is due to take place from 26 to 28 June 2022 at Schloss Elmau in Upper Bavaria, Germany.
The main proclaimed goal of the German G7 Presidency is “Progress towards an equitable world“. Climate policy will be a major point of discussion and, a push will be made for a big advance in international cooperation for sustainable development in the spirit of the 2030 Agenda.
‘We will use our G7 presidency to make this group (of states) a pioneer. A pioneer for a climate neutral economy and equitable world,’ stated Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
The five major themes that Germany will promote are:
- Strong alliance for a sustainable planet;
- Setting the course for economic stability and transformation;
- Enhanced preparedness for healthy lives;
- Sustainable investments in a better future;
- Stronger together.
