Recognising the key role of AI in this transformation, President Cyril Ramaphosa established the Presidential Commission on the Fourth Industrial Revolution (PC4IR). This commission’s mandate is to forge a cohesive national response to the challenges and opportunities presented by the 4IR. In its comprehensive report issued in January 2020, the PC4IR outlined a series of recommendations aimed at propelling South Africa to the forefront of this global movement.
