Bosnia and Herzegovina Internet Governance Forum
The second annual meeting of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Internet Governance Forum (BHIGF) will be held on 21 October 2016, in Sarajevo.
Under the overarching theme ‘BH Internet: Open and secure?’, the forum will provide a space for open, inclusive, and informal dialogue for stakeholders (governments, business, civil society, technical community, academia, the media, and other) interested in sharing ideas, shaping and contributing to strenghtening Internet governance in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BH).
The programme of the meeting will feature three panels on: violent extremism, terrorism and right of reporting; human rights and business in BH Internet economy; and universal access to the Internet. The discussions will emphasise the importance of active involvement of various stakeholders in BH, as well as best practices from experts from the region and the world. Specific topics to be addressed include: security, surveillance terrrorism and the challenges of media reporting; Internet economy, growth and human rights implications; accessibility and disability in the BH Internet landscape; the importance of equal and affordable access to technologies and information and a basic pre-condition for empowerment of girls and women.
