Briefing for Heads of Mission: Digital Policy in Latin America and the Caribbean
The Permanent Mission of Paraguay to the United Nations in Geneva and the Geneva Internet Platform (GIP) will hold a briefing for Heads of Permanent Missions of GRULAC (Latin American and Caribbean Group) countries in Geneva, on ‘Digital policy in Latin America and the Caribbean’.
This GRULAC briefing is aimed to assist Heads of Missions to navigate the ‘digitalisation’ of agendas in the main international organisations. Trade, health, human rights, labour – to name a few policy issues – are increasingly influenced by digital developments. This briefing will also provide inter-linkages among various digital issues addressed in Geneva (e.g. data as an issue of relevance to trade, human rights, and security).
In addition to providing an overview of trends, the session will also focus on ongoing policy processes (the World Trade Organization, the International Telecommunication Union, the Internet Governance Forum, the International Labour Organization, etc.) and forthcoming events, as well as links between digital policy in Geneva and regional/national developments in the GRULAC region.
The briefing will take place on 25 April, 10.00 – 11.00 at the Geneva Internet Platform (WMO building, 7bis Avenue de la Paix, 1202). Light refreshments will be provided. To register for the event and for further information, Permanent Missions can contact Dr Roxana Radu at roxanar@diplomacy.edu
