Cybersecurity Competence Building Trends: Presentation of Study and Follow-up Discussion

Geneva, Switzerland

[Update] If you missed the presentation in Geneva, join the online webinar on 19 April.

The study Cybersecurity Competence Building Trends, conducted by DiploFoundation and commissioned by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, sets out the various measures that ten OECD countries applied to promote competence building measures in the field of cybersecurity. Join us in Geneva, on 8 April, for the presentation of the study findings.

Examples of competence building measures include development of cybersecurity curricula at universities, hubs and innovation centres at universities in cooperation with private and public sector, professional education programmes, and knowledge frameworks. The identified approach may encourage the adoption of competence building measures in Switzerland and other countries. Such measures could be tackled during the formulation and implementation of the national cybersecurity strategies, particularly in the field of education, research and development.

The study will be presented on Friday, 8th April, at 9:50 – 10:30 CEST during the two-day Cyber 9/12 Student Challenge hosted by the Geneva Centre for Security Policy and the Atlantic Council. The session, organised by Diplo and the Geneva Internet Platform, will take place at the Maison de la Paix (4th floor, Classroom-Lounge), Chemin Eugene-Rigot 2D, CH-1211 Geneva, Switzerland.

The authors of the research will provide an overview of main findings and the key trends recorded in the studied OECD countries. The session will allow for a discussion on the strategic, policy and PPP approaches, from transforming the national labour markets to responding to risks (for critical infrastructure, enterprises and institutions) as well as opportunities (industry development and global competitiveness) of cybersecurity.
