Cyberweapons: National Interests, Technologies, and Markets
The Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) will offer the course: Cyberweapons: National Interests, Technologies, and Markets in Geneva, Switzerland, 23-25 November 2015.
As the cyber world continues to grow in scope and complexity, governments and non-state actors increasingly need to understand the tools used for offensive, defensive and intelligence gathering purposes. This course will cover what constitutes a cyberweapon; where the technologies are at the moment and where they are going; and how cyberweapons markets operate.
This course is designed for mid-level government officials, military officers, as well as cyber experts from academia, NGOs, and members of the public and private sectors only. The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the knowledge, tools and skills to understand: what constitutes a cyberweapon; how these weapons can be integrated to support attaining national interests; where the technologies are at the moment and where they are going; how cyberweapons are researched and developed; and how cyberweapons markets operate.
Course objectives
- To provide information on cyber weapons from the perspectives of offensive, defensive and intelligence gathering operations.
- To underline the importance of having national and international frameworks and best practices in place to strengthen cyber defensive capabilities to serve national interests.
- To improve participants’ understanding of the legal aspects of cyberweapons, covering both national and international law.
- To offer valuable insights on how cyber weapons are researched and developed.
- To provide up-to-date market information concerning cyberweapons.
