Gaining a Digital Edge: Freedom of Expression
An OSCE-led conference on ‘Gaining a Digital Edge: Freedom of Expression’ will be held on 14-15 September 2016, in Vienna, Austria. The conference is organised by the Office of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, the OSCE Mission to Serbia, the Center for Media, Data and Society of the CEU School of Public Policy, and the SHARE Foundation.
The conference will bring together journalists, media lawyers, government representatives, experts in information technology, academics, artists and human rights activitists from countries in South Eastern and Central European countries to discuss strategies for navigating the legal, regulatory, and technological challenges to freedom of expression in the digital environment.
Specific topics to be discussed at the event include: digital whisteblowing and cybersecurity, virtual realities and journalism, women in media, algorithms and censorship, online safety for journalists, content regulation on the Internet, network neutrality and freedom of expression, and digital sustainability.
