ITU-T Focus Group on Application of Distributed Ledger Technology: First Meeting
The first meeting of the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) Focus Group on the Application of Distributed Ledger Technology (FG DLT) will be held on 17-19 October 2017, in Geneva, Switzerland.
The objectives of the focus group include to identify and analyse DLT-based applications and services; to draw up best practices and guidance which support the implementation of those applications and services on a global scale; and to propose a way forward for related standardisation work in ITU-T study groups.
Participation in the FG DLT is open to any interested party, including to ITU member states, sector members, associates, academia, and any individual from a country that is a member of ITU and who is willing to contribute to the work.
The group’s first meeting will be include a general discussion on DLT and their standardisation questions, a discussion on the FG DLT structure, expected deliverables, responsibilities, timeline, and review of contributions and initial development of deliverables. In advance of the meeting, contributions can be submitted on the following topics: DLT state of the art, e.g., terms, definitions, concepts, (standards) ecosystem; and specific use cases and their standardization questions. The deadline for contributions is 10 October 2017.
