The Latin America Caribbean Regional Internet Development Dialogue will take place on 8-9 November 2016 , in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The event will be hosted by the Internet Society, the Ministry of Communications – Government of Argentina, and the Inter-American Development Bank.

The aim of the conference is to convene a multistakeholder regional dialogue on policy issues around Internet for development matters, and address some of the opportunities and challenges in the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region. Under the overarching theme ‘The Internet of Opportunity: Building a sustainable future through an inclusive Internet’, the event will feature open high-level discussions addressing the following dimensions: connecting the next billion, information and communication technology (ICT) and sustainable development, and the digital economy. Special attention will be given to the transformational potential of ICT and Internet for the sustainable development goals, as well as mainstreaming gender within topical discussions. 

Possible outcomes of the conference include: the emergence of one or more working groups, organised around issues such as Internet for sustainable development, connectivity, innovation and collaboration; specific follow-up and engagement with national governments present at the conference; and the regional Internet development conference becoming an annual event serving as a forum for broadening discussions about Internet and socio-economic development.
