Organizational session of the Ad Hoc Committee to Elaborate a Comprehensive International Convention on Countering the Use of Information and Communications Technologies for Criminal Purposes
Pursuant to the General Assembly decision entitled Ad Hoc Committee to Elaborate a Comprehensive International Convention on Countering the Use of Information and Communications Technologies for Criminal Purposes (A/75/L.55) the organizational session of the ad hoc committee was postponed from 20-22 January to 10-12 May 2021.
The Ad Hoc Committee is an open-ended ad hoc intergovernmental committee of experts, representative of all regions, whose task is to elaborate a comprehensive international convention on countering the use of ICTs for criminal purposes, taking into full consideration existing international instruments and efforts on combating the use of ICTs for criminal purposes. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime serves as the Secretariat of the Committee. In preparation for the organizational session, Committee Member States were invited for consultations on item 2 (Election of Officers) and item 4 (Outline and modalities for the further activities of the Ad Hoc Committee) of the provisional agenda.
Due to the COVID-19 situation in Austria, the briefings will be held in a totally virtual format on MS Teams, where participants may join by following the links provided to the delegations via email. No prior registration is needed.
