Regional Cyber Security Summit
The Regional Cyber Security Summit 2016 will be held on 30 October – 1 November, in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The event is organised under the umbrella of the International Telecommunication Union Arab Regional Cybersecurity Center (ITU-ARCC), and will be hosted by the National Telecom Regulatory Authority in Egypt.
The aim of the event is to facilitate the exchange of information, ideas, solutions, and emerging practices that could improve cybersecurity. It is expected to bring together over 300 senior information and communication technology and cybersecurity officials from Arab and African countries, to discuss and formulate strategic directions and plans to tackle emerging threats to the global and regional information security sector.
Under the theme ‘Boundless Collaboration, Boundless Protection’, the summit will focus on cooperation in cybersecurity as a key element in tackling the complexity and scalability of the main challenges of today’s cyber threats. Specific topics to be discussed include: future cybersecurity threats and implications for various stakeholders; integrated systems for cybersecurity; the Internet of Things and Internet identifier security; facts and myths about the dark web; cyberwarfare; critical information infrastructure protection; protecting personal data via the Internet; cybersecurity vulnerabilities in cloud computing; cyberthreats in the aviation sector, healthcare sector, and media and entertainment sector.
The event will be co-located with the FIRST Regional Symposium for Arab and African Regions, to be held on 2-3 November.
