The UK government is set to organise the UK AI Safety Summit on 1-2 November 2023 in Bletchley Park, in BletchleyMilton Keynes (Buckinghamshire).

The main goal of this AI summit is to foster dialogue and cooperation among diverse participants, with the shared aim of responsibly and positively shaping the future of AI.

The summit aims to provide a platform for stakeholders to collaboratively devise shared approaches to ensure the implementation of safety measures that can effectively mitigate AI-related risks. The UK government asserted that the summit’s objectives are closely aligned with ongoing efforts at international forums such as the OECDGlobal Partnership on AI, Council of Europe, the UN, and the G7 Hiroshima AI Process.

Program for AI Safety Summit:

Day 1:

Understanding frontier AI risks (roundtable discussions)


– Risks to global safety from frontier AI misuse (incl. biosecurity and cybersecurity)
– Risks from unpredictable advances in frontier AI capability
– Risks from *loss of control* over frontier AI
– Risks from the *integration of frontier AI into society* (incl. election disruption, impacts on crime and online safety, and exacerbating global inequalities)

Improving frontier AI safety (roundtable discussions)


– What should frontier AI developers do to scale responsibly?
– What should national policymakers do in relation to the risk and opportunities of AI?
– What should the international community do in relation to the risk and opportunities of AI?
– What should the scientific community do in relation to the risk and opportunities of AI?

AI for good – AI for the next generation


– Discussion on the immense opportunities of AI to transform education for future generations
– Closing remarks by the UK’s Secretary of State

Day 2:

The Prime Minister will convene a small group of representatives from governments, companies and experts to further discuss what steps can be taken to address the risks in emerging AI technology and ensure it is used as a force for good.

In parallel, UK Technology Secretary Michelle Donelan will reconvene international counterparts to agree on the next steps.
