UK’s government offers to fund organizational IoT cybersecurity vulnerabilities research
UK’s government is offering funding for organizations to research cybersecurity vulnerabilities in IoT devices like printers and cameras. The grant of up to £200,000 aims to test popular devices to assess current security measures. This initiative is part of a larger strategy to enhance cybersecurity, protect against threats, and support the digital economy, alongside an ongoing bill to bolster the cyber resilience of consumer IoT devices.
UK’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) provides funding for organizations to research the cyber security of their smart devices (e.g., printers, cameras, and room booking systems) to ensure they are adequately protected against hackers. The successful bidder will be awarded up to £200,000 to test popular devices and help identify if current security measures and guidance are strong enough to protect businesses from threats. The grant is part of the government’s £2.6 billion National Cyber Strategy to protect the UK from cyber threats and grow the digital economy. This work complements the Product Security and Telecommunications infrastructure bill (PSTI), which is currently going through the parliament and aims to strengthen the cyber resilience of consumer IoT devices.
