Ransomware threats decrease in the US but expand in EMEA and APAC
Attacks on US organisations decreased by 51% year over year, but they significantly increased in the UK, EMEA, and APAC. IoT malware detections rose 92% globally over the same time period, including 82% in APAC and 200% in North America. ‘The cyber-warfare battlefront continues to shift, posing dangerous threats to organisations of all sizes,’ warns SonicWall President and CEO, Bob VanKirk.
Despite the fact that the number of ransomware detections in Q3 2022 was at its lowest level in two years and that attacks on US organisations have decreased, certain geographic areas have become more important targets, according to SonicWall.
Attacks on US organisations decreased during the period by 51% year over year, but they significantly increased in the UK (20%), EMEA (38%), and APAC (56%).
As SonicWall states, IoT malware detections rose 92% globally over the same time period, including 82% in APAC and 200% in North America.
