UK Prime Minister collaborates with tech giants for responsible AI advancement
The UK is partnering with AI companies to ensure safety and regulation, leaving it to human rights authorities.
The engagement of the United Kingdom, led by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, with major artificial intelligence companies OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and Anthropic is a significant step toward ensuring society benefits from a revolutionary technology.
Prime Minister Sunak and company leaders such as OpenAI’s Sam Altman, Google DeepMind’s Demis Hassabis and Anthropic’s Dario Amodei discussed the importance of human rights in using artificial intelligence. They considered possible avenues for international cooperation in artifical intelligence security and regulation.
They addressed and emphasised that there are hazards when using intelligence since erroneous information might be circulated, affecting, for example, national security. They explicitly said that it is critical to consider steps and procedures to maintain protection and mitigate the risks of artificial intelligence’s harmful effects.
The United Kingdom will not establish a distinct AI accountability body, instead leaving it to human rights authorities, which is considered the best feasible option for ensuring AI’s safety and seamless usage.
