Domain name industry Verisign report
The .com and .net domain name registrations totaled 10.3 million at the end of the first quarter of 2023, compared to 10.2 million domain name registrations at the end of the first quarter of 2022.
The report recently released by Verisign offered the domain name industry brief for the first quarter of the 2023. Verisign reported an increase of 3.5 million domain name registrations, or 1.0%, year over year. The .com and .net TLDs had a combined total of 174.8 million domain name registrations in the domain name base at the end of the first quarter of 2023.
Total country-code TLD (ccTLD) domain name registrations were 135.7 million and total new generic TLD (ngTLD) domain name registrations were 27.3 million at the end of the first quarter of 2023. The increasing use of the internet and the need for businesses and individuals to have an online presence is driving the growth of domain name registrations. This data indicates that the domain name industry is continuing to expand and that businesses and individuals are increasingly recognizing the importance of having an online presence.
