US and UK join forces to combat AI-generated child sexual abuse images
UK and US are joining forces to counter the concerning proliferation of AI-generated child sexual abuse images.
The United Kingdom and the USA have published a joint statement emphasizing their commitment to combating the growth of pictures of child sexual abuse created by AI technologies. The Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, and the US Secretary of Homeland Security, Alexander Majorkas, stated they will collaborate to combat this worrying development and safeguard victims.
This effort followed Minister Braverman’s visit to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the USA, during which she complimented NCMEC’s work and urged social media firms to take responsibility and prioritize the protection of children on their platforms.
This engagement is part of a global fight against the spread of images of child sexual abuse generated by AI. The UK is working to understand the risks and develop solutions in collaboration with technology leaders and industry experts.
