IBM calls out the Tesla and X owner, Elon Musk, for endorsing antisemitic content on his platform
IBM accuses X platform owner of endorsing antisemitism, and has since pulled its advertising from the platform.
Media Matters, a media watchdog, reported that content advertised by IBM, Apple, Oracle, and Comcast’s Xfinity is purposefully posted alongside antisemitic content on the X platform. The accusation came soon after X’s owner, Elon Musk, seemingly aligned himself with a post on the platform that Jews are encouraging disdain for Caucasians. Although the others have not yet commented on the matter, IBM has vehemently denounced the action and has since pulled all advertisements from the platform.
Elon Musk has not commented on the matter to date but has endorsed a comment by the company’s CEO, affirming the platform’s disdain for antisemitism. The billionaire has defended himself against similar accusations amidst falling ads.
Why does it matter?
Antisemitism has risen sharply in the US ever since the war started in Gaza. Continued tensions can result in exacerbating several already tenuous divides in the country.
