The GSMA, in collaboration with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), has introduced the latest GSMA Innovation Fund aimed at tackling humanitarian issues. This fund offers grants of up to £250,000 along with non-financial and technical support to test innovative solutions utilizing digital technologies, particularly mobile, to address challenges in low- and middle-income countries.
These challenges encompass issues like food insecurity, displacement, and natural disasters. The fund is keen on supporting solutions that leverage cutting-edge technologies such as AI and IoT to enhance preparedness and response to humanitarian crises. It also seeks to address the needs of crisis-affected populations, including internally displaced persons and refugees, by providing access to humanitarian assistance, services, and critical information. Additionally, the fund encourages adaptations or replications of existing innovations in new contexts to effectively respond to humanitarian challenges.
