Facebook opens AI lab in Canada
Facebook has announced the opening of a new artificial intelligence (AI) lab in Canada, thus increasing to four the number of dedicated AI research labs the company has at the moment (in Silicon Valley, Paris, and New York). In addition to the lab, Facebook also intends to invest $7 million to support AI research at academic institutions in Canada. Speaking about the new lab, Canada’s prime minister Justin Trudeau said that ‘This new laboratory… will show that Canada is a leader in the economy of the future and an influential player in the field of artificial intelligence in the world’.
