Pakistan to crack down hate speech on social media

Pakistan’s Minister of Information, Mr Fawad Chaudhry, stated that ‘a mechanism has been finalised to control hate speech on social media. There was a need to build a capacity to monitor social media and trace fake accounts”. This declaration comes after numerous episodes of hate speech from fake accounts. The Minister further added that ‘digital media is over taking formal media so it is important for us to regulate this’.
