Andean Presidential Council releases statement on the use of new technologies and .Amazon
The Andean Presidents (presidents of Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador) have written a special declaration to the ICANN Board expressing their concern over the board approving the .Amazon top level domain name.The presidents described the decision of the board to be ‘against the recommendation of the Government Advisory Committee (GAC) to reach a mutually acceptable solution’ and that such a decision is setting a ‘serious precedent by prioritizing private commercial interests over other public policy interests of the state’.
