Oversight of Australian education department leaves data of children exposed
An audit of the Student Administration Management System (SAMS) used by the NT Department of Education revealed that the confidential records of children and teachers were left exposed ,due to departmental oversight in the Northern Territory Government. The audits revealed that SAMs that stores the personal student information such as enrollment, attended rates, health and behaviour and also the demographic data of students and their parents, had limited guidelines around user access and a “lack of comprehensive security monitoring” since its roll out in 2017.
