Twitter updates its rules to explicitly ban hateful speech
Twitter has updated its rules to contain more explicit language outlining the fact that the company “will not tolerate behavior intended to harass, intimidate, or use fear to silence another user’s voice.” In a new section on abusive behavior, Twitter describes a number of activities that may lead to temporarily lock or permanent suspension of accounts: violent threats, harassment, hateful conduct, multiple account abuse, posting of private information of other people or impersonation. “Self-harm” is also included in this new section, the company noting that it might contact and try to help people who appear to be considering self-harm or suicide.
