French media force adblocker users to uninstall software before accessing their websites
A collection of French media websites, including Le Monde, L’Equipe and Le Parisien have joined an initiative that aims to revive the advertisements on their websites. The websites force adblocker users to uninstall the software before being able to read news content, as the media outlets argue that they are being deprived of critical revenue. According to Jerome Fenoglio, editor-in-chief of Le Monde, ‘for our 400 journalists to provide you each day with high-quality, reliable and varied news…we must be able to rely on advertising revenue.’
