UK calls for cybersecurity capacity building at UN OEWG
Speaking at the opening session of the UN Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG), the UK representative to the OEWG, Alexander Evans, cyber director at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) deemed capacity to address cybersecurity ‘a real challenge’ and called for more investment in cybersecurity capacity building.
‘We believe that funding international capacity building on cyber is an urgent priority that deserves our collective attention and financial commitment from donors and will look to promote this particular theme in OEWG discussions’, Evans said. He added that no single government on its own can eliminate cybersecurity threats and that international co-operation is of utmost importance.
