Noyb files complaint after voter’s data breach in Malta
Digital rights group noyb has filed a complaint against C-Planet IT Solutions, an IT company responsible for a leaked database of voter’s data in Malta. The personal data of 337,384 Maltese voters was freely available online in 2020. Noyb requested the Maltese Data Protection Commissioner to issue a fine of up to €20 million, considering that the leaked database contained the personal data and political opinion of about 98% of the Maltese electorate. In parallel, the NGOs Daphne Foundation and Repubblika initiated a class action on behalf of those affected.
