Online domestic violence online training in Manitoba, Canada
A new online domestic violence training initiative has been launched in Manitoba, Canada, by the Minister of Sport, Culture and Heritage and responsible for the status of women. The training is dedicated to government employees and other frontline workers in the province who are not experts in domestic violence or human resources. This program comes as a response to the increased number of cases during the COVID-19 pandemic. Survivors of domestic violence and abuse often do not seek formal support, but share their stories with probation officers, nurses, or case workers. The training will provide them with necessary skills to listen and understand survivors’ needs. The pilot training is being delivered by frontline staff and workers, as well as representatives from the Indigenous, and LGBTQ2+ communities.
