Malawi government planning to amend laws to tackle cyber bullying
To enhance protection of children online, especially from cyber bullying, the Government of Malawi is planning to amend the Communications Act 2017. A survey report by the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (Macra) and the National Statistical Office has highlighted that a growing proportion of children aged between 9 and 17 are connected to the internet without the knowledge of their parents and that the existing laws do not provide mechanisms for reporting child sexual abuse and bullying online.
