India’s TAIPA lobbies for telecom infrastructure personnel in COVID-19 vaccine priority list
India’s telecom infrastructure providers’ body the Tower and Infrastructure Providers Association (TAIPA) is lobbying the government to have infrastructure personnel categorised as frontline workers for the COVID-19 vaccine. The TAIPA represents companies like Indus Towers, ATC and Sterlite Technologies with 45,000 frontline workers in the sector who played a critical role in maintaining digital connectivity across the country despite the risks posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The telecom sector is expected to establish new benchmarks in next-generation network deployments and service delivery making it imperative that personnel are included as frontline workers and given priority access to the COVID-19 vaccine.
