Afghanistan plans biometric registration at madrassas
The Afgani Ministry of Interior Affairs plans to undertake biometric registration of staff and students at madrasas, Islamic colleges, in the country. There are currently 5000 madrasas registered under the Ministry of Haj and Religious Affairs. While the institutions offer religious education to students, the Afgan government has also linked them with radicalisation of youth. The biometric registration is therefore meant to bring the institutions under national security.
