Alibaba Cloud accused of violating China’s cybersecurity Law
Alibaba Cloud has been accused by the provincial Chinese telecom authority Zhejiang Communications Administration (ZCA) of disclosing user registration information to a third-party partner without consent, which is in violation of the Cybersecurity Law. While ZCA has not revealed the source of the complaint, Alibaba Cloud, in its statement, mentioned that the incident took place during 11 November Singles’ Day shopping festival in 2019, when ‘a telemarketing employee violated company discipline, privately obtaining client contact information and leaking it to a distributor’s staff member’.
