Amazon CEO: the conflict between privacy and security is an ‘issue of our age’
Jeffrey Bezos, the CEO of Amazon, says that the conflict between privacy and security is an ‘issue of our age, which ‘needs to be looked at by the highest courts, by citizens, and by lawmakers’. Bezos noted that Amazon is embracing those technologies that would both prevent the producer from accessing the devices it creates, and make it difficult for law enforcement agencies (LEA) to gain access to personal information stored on such devices. With regard to the issue of LEA being entitled to ask tech companies to weaken the security of the devices they create, he says that this is a matter which needs to be tackled either by the higher courts or by new legislation.
