Apple vs the FBI: while Apple calls for the creation of a governmental panel on encryption, the company and FBI are called to testify before the Congress
The conflict between Apple and the FBI over unlocking a phone belonging to one of the San Bernardino attackers continues. Apple remains strong on its position to fight again the court order requesting it to help with unlocking the phone; the company says that complying with the request with create a dangerous precedent and would seriously undermine the privacy and security of its users. Apple has asked for the creation of a government panel on encryption. On the other hand, the FBI argues that the request is specific and limited to the San Bernardino case, and that it is not about creating backdoors or setting precedents. Both Apple and the FBI have been asked to testify before the US House Energy and Commerce Committee, in a hearing over encryption (whose date does not seem to be settled yet).
