Federal Brazilian police arrested a suspect of the Lapsus$ cybercrime group. The group has targeted numerous government agencies in Brazil, including the Ministry of Health, where they deleted and compromised a website that managed COVID vaccine certificates.
Following an investigation in August 2022, the Federal Brazilian police arrested a suspect of the Lapsus$ cybercrime group. A cyberattack at the Ministry of Health enabled cybercriminals to partially delete and compromise a website that managed COVID vaccine certificates. The Lapsus$ attacks also targeted numerous other Brazilian agencies, including the Ministry of Economy, the Comptroller General of the Union, and the Federal Highway Police. It is believed that the group has been using various techniques to steal sensitive data and to threaten victims with the release of data.
