Chadian government announces ICT infrastructure upgrade programme and new digital development strategy
The Chadian government launched a national project to modernise infrastructure and electronic communications. The project endeavors to improve access to information and communication technology (ICT) services and speed up the country’s digital migration over the period from 2020 to 2030 to better integrate the use of digital technologies in all the major socio-economic activities through three strands. First, the construction of a national data centre to facilitate the storage and processing of Chad’s digital data. Second, the construction of an optical fiber network to be deployed over 1200 km throughout the country. Third, the modernisation of the network of the telecom group Sotel Chad through the construction of 200 2G/3G/4G telecom sites, a core network, and the extension of capacity in terms of the number of subscribers (from 300 000 to 1 000 000).
