A child-safe search engine launched – but is it safe enough?
This week, Kiddle.co was launched – a new search engine designed for children. However, the search engine has already received criticism in what it does and does not filter. For example, the words ‘gay’ and ‘lesbian’ have controversially been filtered, as well as searches about ‘uterus’, ‘poop’ or ‘menstruation.’ At the same time, the engine does show references to naked images, sex tapes and allows for searches about ‘smoke pot’.
