CISA unveils comprehensive roadmap for responsible AI integration
CISA’s new AI Roadmap, aligned with White House directives, charts a course for responsible AI use in cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection. Emphasizing secure AI integration, it outlines five key strategies: responsible use, system assurance, infrastructure protection, collaboration, and expertise expansion.
Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has introduced its comprehensive Artificial Intelligence Roadmap in alignment with the White House Executive Order 14110 (Executive Order on the Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence). This plan delineates five primary approaches:
- Responsible AI Implementation: Utilising AI tools to strengthen cybersecurity while maintaining ethical and legal standards.
- Ensuring AI Systems: Assessing and endorsing secure AI adoption in diverse sectors through best practices and guidance.
- Safeguarding Infrastructure: Recognising and tackling AI-related threats to critical infrastructure in partnership with industry and government.
- Collaboration and Communication: Contributing to the national AI strategy, shaping policies, and coordinating globally on AI security.
- Broadening AI Knowledge: Educating and enlisting individuals skilled not only in AI technology but also in its legal, ethical, and policy dimensions.
This roadmap prioritises the responsible and secure incorporation of AI into cybersecurity and safeguarding critical infrastructure. Its goals encompass promoting beneficial AI applications, risk mitigation, advocating for secure AI development, and enhancing expertise within the CISA workforce.
The roadmap emphasises the responsible, ethical, and safe use of AI, consistent with the Constitution and all applicable laws and policies, including those addressing federal procurement, privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties.
