Cisco warns about a vulnerability in IPv6 packet processing
Cisco has announced that it identified a vulnerability in the IPv6 packet processing functions of several Cisco products. If exploited by an attacker, the vulnerability could cause an affected device to stop processing IPv6 traffic, thus leading to a denial of service condition on the device. Cisco warns that the vulnerability is not limited to the company’s products, but can affect ‘any IPv6 processing unit not capable of dropping such packets early in the processing path or in hardware’.
